About Splashskins

Splashskins was created by Amy Fowler and Rene Shaw, both of whom are moms of
active children.

Amy and Rene were inspired by European and Australian suits that protected
children from the sun’s damaging rays without the need to lather them with messy sunscreens.

They were astounded at how comfortable their kids felt in these suits, but were never satisfied with the style, selection or durability available on the market.

And so began the search for fabrics that were fun and stylish as well as highly UV protective with the belief that sun protection can not be effective if "the kid won’t wear it."

The first Splashskins UV protective swim suits were worn and tested by the founders' own children, and then were made for children of friends and neighbors. As enthusiasm for the product grew and after much experimentation with materials, manufacturing and accessories, Amy and Rene decided to market Splashskins to a broader audience.
